BELOIT, Wisc. — The U.S. Kubb Open returns to Riverside Park in Beloit on Saturday, Aug. 10. The tournament, which was first held in 2016, will once again use the Klassic format and Kubb United’s Rules for Open Play. Pitches will be painted with lines and the 100 percent in rule will be in effect. Active referees will be present throughout the day.
There will be seven rounds of qualifying games. The top 16 will be seeded into the championship bracket, the next 16 in consolation B, and the remaining teams in consolation C. Any top 16 teams losing their first games will move into consolation A. As in years past, the top eight teams in the championship bracket and the top two in the consolation A bracket will receive cash payouts.
For lunch on Saturday, concessions, including beer, will be provided as a fundraiser by the Beloit Youth Hockey Association.
On Friday, pitches will be available for practice and friendlies. The painting should be done by 5 p.m., if not earlier. There’s an outdoor concert and food trucks in the same park that night as well.
On Sunday following the U.S. Kubb Open, there will be a free 1v1 tournament at the same park beginning at 9 a.m. It’s open to everyone will consist of eight 18-minute games using the Klassic format. The top three winners will receive medals.
