ELVERSON, Penn. — The second Pennsylvania Kubb Championship, and fourth tournament in Elverson, will return to Livingood Park on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020. Keystone Kubb will once again play host to teams from around the country. Players of all skill levels are invited and encouraged to take part in what’s sure to be another great tournament.
This year, COVID-19 is top of everyone’s mind, and Tournament Director Bob Hickes is taking a number of precautions to ensure player safety. There will be hand sanitizer on-site and lots of encouragement for social distancing. This year there won’t be any concessions for sale, but a number of local carry-out options are nearby for those looking for lunch or a snack. Players are also allowed to bring their own food and drink, but glass bottles and alcohol are prohibited in the park.
Just like last year, teams should be a minimum of two players, with no player throwing more than three batons per round. The U.S. National Kubb Championship Rules will be employed, with the addition of the Neighbor Rule. One other rules tweak, is allowing the offensive team to remove the center pin after all field kubbs have been raised. The pins must be replaced after the throwing team’s turn is completed.
Seven rounds of Klassic system qualifying are planned. The standings at the end of qualifying will seed a championship and silver bracket, and the top three finishers in each will receive awards.
Registration is open, and Keystone Kubb has pledged to give full refunds for any reason due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants are encouraged to keep an eye on their Facebook and Twitter pages for any updates as the tournament draws closer.
