KASSON, Minn. — The annual Kubbing to Kick Cancer tournament is back at Veterans Memorial Park in Kasson on Saturday, June 8, 2019. This family friendly kubb tournament for a cause, directed by Dee Dee and Jason Halvorson, is in its seventh year of raising money for the American Cancer Society.
At the time of writing, there are 30 teams currently registered. The tournament allows for up to 48 teams of two to six players, and will use the U.S. National Rules with the Klassic format. The first seven rounds will be single games with a 25 minute time limit, and a “drop batons” (don’t finish your turn) rule when the buzzer sounds. After qualifying play, the top eight teams will be seeded into the championship bracket, and teams nine through 24 will advance into two consolation brackets. There will be no time limit for championship bracket rounds, but the 25 minute time limit will remain in effect for the consolation brackets. Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams in each bracket.
Triple T BBQ Team will be onsite with delicious BBQ lunch options available. As with years past, there will be a silent auction with a variety of donated items on which to bid. T-shirts and stickers will also be on sale. Be sure to also take a moment to check out the display of Tribute Kings honoring and remembering those who’ve fought cancer. All proceeds from Kubbing to Kick Cancer will go to the American Cancer Society.
