THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. — On Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, the Northern Minnesota town of Thief River Falls will once again be home to the TRF Winter Kubb Tournament. This is the 37th kubb tournament Director Ryan Kolden has held in the area, and he says it will be his final one. The tournament will be held at the local Eagle’s club, where five local bands will be playing throughout the evening.
Teams may consist of two to six players each and there is a 24 team limit for the tournament. The Klassic system with the U.S. National rules will be used. After seven rounds, the top eight teams will be seeded in the championship division with the remaining teams battling in the consolation bracket. The top three of each division will receive awards.
There will be eight outside pitches and teams will rotate who plays and who warms up inside. It’s bound to be cold, so dress appropriately. Be prepared for snow-covered conditions.
Last year’s winning team was the Lumber Tumblers of Minneapolis, but they will be unable to attend this year. Who will take the top prize? There are still spots open, so register today and it could be you!
