THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. — Thief River Falls Kubb Club is back holding its 34th tournament over the last eight years. The tournament is the northernmost in the United States and takes place on Saturday, June 24. They are expecting 16 to 20, two to six person teams competing in this year’s tournament. A team of Ryan Kolden and Brian Winistorfer were last year’s champions.
Play will begin with seven rounds of the DMK Klassic system. After the qualifying rounds the teams will be divided into championship and consolation brackets. Trophies and medals will be award to the top three teams in each bracket. All sets are made custom by Thief River Falls Kubb.
For lunch there will be three different food vendors and a small beer garden for adults. Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Annie Park fundraiser to support the park playground. The event will also feature a National Guard climbing wall for the kids, and five bands playing throughout the evening.
Director Ryan Kolden says the event is “Going to be Kubbs of fun.”
