CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wisc.—The third annual Leinenkugel’s SpringFest Kubb Championship is part of the Chippewa Falls SpringFest, a benefit event for the Chippewa Falls Rotary Club. SpringFest is a three day festival with music, games, exhibitors, food, and activities for kids like bouncy houses and inflatable slides, face painters, and a pedal tractor pull. The kubb tournament is grass tournament with a group play format leading to a championship and consolation bracket, teams eliminated in the first round of the championship bracket will play in the “beer bracket” where a free pitcher of beer is awarded to the winners. Three to four players are allowed per team. The pitches will be set up Friday afternoon, so teams are welcome to come and play practice games Friday evening. Sets will be provided at the event site for practice games. For lunch there will be a great selection of fair-type food. There will also be a separate bar in the kubb area for participants.
Last year the event was won by Scott Forster, Scott Graham, and Cory Shay (Tyr’s Tre). This year there is a $150 cash prize and signed Leinie’s paddles for first place, $100 cash and Leinie’s signs for second place, and $50 and signs for third place. It should make for a competitive day as 48 teams are expected to compete this year.
