ALTOONA, Wisc. — The WHYS Radio Bluegrass Festival Kubb Tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 in Altoona at Lake Altoona County Park. This will be a three to six person team tournament. Registration for this tournament is free with the cost of entry to the bluegrass festival, $17 for families and $12 for individuals. The tournament will be limited to 16 teams, so if you want to guarantee your teams spot, make sure to register by emailing whys@whysradio.org.
Registration (if spots are still available) and sign-ins will start at 10 a.m. and the tournament will start at approximately 11 a.m. The 16 teams will be placed into groups of four teams and play three best-of-three-game matches. After group play, teams will be seeded into a full 16 team bracket. Teams that win in the first round will continue on in the championship bracket, while all other teams will move to the consolation bracket. There will be medals for the top three finishing teams and the consolation bracket champion.
The festival is a yearly event with many bluegrass performers playing at the shady park in range of the kubb pitches. The event also includes craft beers, a play area for kids, brats, hot dogs, and other festival food as well as their famous rice and beans. More Information can be found on the website.
