ELVERSON, Penn. — The inaugural East Coast Kubb Championship will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Livingood Park in Elverson, Pennsylvania. The tournament will be hosted by the Keystone Kubb Club and directed by Bob Hickes. This will be a two to six person tournament that will run seven rounds of the Klassic System using the U.S. National Kubb Championship Rules. This tournament will also be incorporating the Neighbor Rule. Following the open rounds, there will be a eight team championship bracket that will play best of three matches. All other teams will be placed into the silver bracket and will play single game matches. There will be lunch sold that will benefit the Twin Valley Girl Scout Service Unit 766.
This year they are expecting anywhere from 16 to 20 teams for the tournament. There will be awards for the top three finishing teams in both the championship and silver brackets. EZ-Up tents, food and beverage are permitted in Livingood park, however, alcohol is not permitted. The tournament will be played rain or shine, so as always, be prepared to play in any weather. The tournament may be delayed for severe weather conditions.
“We’re really excited to finally bring tournament kubb to Pennsylvania! This is the first tournament of its kind in the state, and so far we’re really excited by the response that we’ve received. There are players and teams from eight states registered so far and there are a lot of players that are going to be playing in their first kubb tournament here. Thanks to our great sponsors, Country Kubb and Kubb On, we’re looking forward to a great day of kubb!” —Bob Hickes
