The Continental Kubb Championship is a new event added to the U.S. National Kubb Championship weekend schedule. Continental Kubb will pair up high level kubb players from Europe against players from North America. Two players from Rostock, Germany will represent Europe and take on six North American teams. The event will take place on Friday, July 7 at approximately 1 p.m. after the Kid Kubb Championship.
Two best-of-three game kubb matches will take place simultaneously, where the European team will move back and forth between both matches. The idea here is that when they would normally be watching their opponent take their turn, the Germans would move on and take their turn in the second match before returning to the first match. This will continue until both matches are completed. Then the next two North American opponents would join them for the second round and again for a third round. A total of six matches will be played before determining a winning continent. In the event of a tie, there will be a tiebreaker to determine the victor.
The participating players were chosen based on their exceptional play recently and in the interest of representing as many clubs and regions in North America. The lists of participants, in the order that they will play, is listed below:
Europe
- Bjorn Gorlitz, Robert Harnack
North America
- Phil Dickinson, Emily Jipp, Brian Winistorfer
- Aaron Ellringer, Dave Ellringer, Sy Ellringer
- Scott Forster, Gregg Jochimsen
- Jesse Fraim, Kyle Weakland, Paul Weakland
- Matt Erdman, Phil Goetstouwers, Ford Rolfsrud
- Darren Finger, Mark Oman

Really looking forward to this! Great work to all who put it together.
For those interested in the betting line, I am hosting the Germans at my house in EC. For the right price I’ll see to it that Team Europe is a bit “under the weather” come Friday afternoon.
